Paris 1913. Coco Chanel is infatuated with the rich and handsome Boy Capel, but she is also compelled by her work. Igor Stravinsky`s The Rite of Spring is about to be performed. Coco attends the scandalous first performance of The Rite in a chic white dress. The music and ballet are criticized as too modern, too foreign. Coco is moved but Igor is inconsolable. Paris 1920, Coco is newly wealthy and successful but grief-stricken after Boy`s death in a car crash. Igor, following the Russian Revolution is now a penniless refugee living in exile in Paris. Coco is introduced to Igor by Diaghilev, impresario of the Ballets Russes. The attraction between them is instant and electric. Coco invites Igor along with his wife - now sick with consumption - together with his four children and a menagerie of birds to stay at her new villa, Bel Respiro, in Garches.

|  | | Snow-sport enthusiasts, take note: Adam Green`s unsettling thriller Frozen suggests that abiding by the rules and regulations of your local ski resort might not only be polite, but essential to your health. Green`s hapless heroes--nice guy Dan (Kevin Zegers, Transamerica), his best pal Lynch (Shawn Ashmore, the X-Men franchise), and Dan`s new girlfriend Parker (newcomer Emma Bell)--decided to cut a few corners in pursuit of more time on the slopes. Miscommunication with the staff results in the trio getting stuck on a lift some 60 feet in the air just moments before the resort closes for a three-day weekend. The hope for rescue soon dwindles, and the trio faces the decision to either endure the elements or somehow make their way to the ground without injury. All of the gruesome possibilities inherent to the situation--from frostbite and broken limbs to a pack of voracious wolves--are explored in unpleasant detail, but what sets Frozen apart from a simple splatterfest is the quality of the performances, especially Bell, who rises above her character`s initial superficiality to present a wholly sympathetic character. Fans of Green`s first film, the abysmal slasher tribute Hatchet, might find the pacing glacial (ahem), but those who admired his sophomore effort, the psychological thriller Spiral, will appreciate his attention to pacing and suspense, which puts Frozen on par with the very similar Open Water.

As the countdown to the concert begins, one intern must navigate a minefield of London drug smuggles, New York City brawls and Vegas lap dances to deliver his charge safe and, sort of, sound. He may have to coax, lie to, enable and party with Aldous, but Aaron will get him to the Greek.

|  | | ONDINE is a lyrical modern fairy tale that tells the story of Syracuse (Colin Farrell), an Irish fisherman whose life is transformed when he catches a beautiful and mysterious woman (Alicja Bachleda) in his nets. She says her name is Ondine, which means "she came from the sea". His daughter Annie (Alison Barry) comes to believe that the woman is a selkie, a magical seal/woman creature, while Syracuse falls helplessly in love. In the Celtic myth, a selkie is able to become human by taking off her seal coat, and can return to seal form by putting it back on. However, like all fairy tales, enchantment and darkness go hand in hand. Annie hopes that Ondine has come to live on land for 7 years and that she can use her selkie wish to cure Annie`s kidney failure. Whenever Ondine is onboard Syracuse`s fishing boat, she sings a siren song, and his nets and lobster pots are full of fish and seafood in tremendous numbers hard to believe. However, being Irish, Syracuse (or "Circus" the nickname he is trying to outlive, one he has earned for his previous hard drinking ways) is mistrustful of good luck, with it comes bad. Is Ondine really a selkie, will she stay, can love be trusted? What is Ondine`s real secret? And who is the menacing man lurking around town spying on her? Is he her selkie husband come to claim her back to the sea?

|  | | No stranger to literary adaptations, Michael Winterbottom sinks his teeth into Jim Thompson`s noir classic for this cinematic murder ballad. Set in 1950s Texas, the story centers on Lou Ford (Casey Affleck, chilling yet strangely sympathetic), whose polite demeanor masks a murderer (and marks Affleck`s second lethal Ford after The Assassination of Jesse James). The deputy doesn`t lack for compassion, but a twisted childhood drives him to inflict pain. He`s also a pathological liar, though a union leader (Elias Koteas) and an attorney (The Mentalist`s Simon Baker) have their doubts. When Joyce (Jessica Alba), a hooker, gives him a hard time, Ford slaps her around, apologizes, and then falls for the feisty lady, even though his boss (Tom Bower), on orders from a construction magnate (Ned Beatty), asked him to escort her out of town. Plus, Lou already has a girl, schoolteacher Amy (a brunette Kate Hudson), so he finds a more expedient way to push Joyce--and other inconvenient individuals--out of the picture, but he isn`t the sharpest tool in the shed, and his slip-ups outnumber his successes until he comes up with a plan to solve his problems once and for all. Cowriter John Curran`s dialogue preserves Thompson`s pungent text, though Affleck`s drawl renders a few lines indistinguishable. Still, the film looks right for the era with bursts of graphic violence that feel postmodern.

She tries to pass him off as an upper-class suitor to appease the spinster aunt who controls her family`s fortune, but when she loses a diamond, it places their tenuous relationship in further jeopardy.
